Dom is a service design lead who views design as a work of passion. Fundamentally, it’s about solving problems through solutions which combine pragmatic information with art and expression in order to create an impact. He got his start in the world of print and brand identity as a design and art director in London moving into web and digital before coming to Berlin in 2013 to put his experience to work in new and evolving ways.
Together with his partner, an artist and educator, he’s a proponent of artistic causes. He believes art and design are equally integral to the education system as maths and science, and views them each as a craft to be fostered from a young age in order to further their relevance in our society. To him, design is meant to help people, and design thinking and research are how we can better understand the needs of these people in order to bring greater value to them in the future.
In his work at Fjord, he strives to expand the client’s view of design, and help them see the benefits it can bring to their business and their customers alike. Many clients still function heavily in the traditional areas, and his role is to help bring them into the digital space, and leverage technology to get their message out in the world.
Masterclass: Kill the Documentation
The problem is we spend too much time generating handover documentation which means less time spent on design innovation. Fjord Berlin will lead a workshop highlighting the pitfalls of unnecessary documentation, and present their workflow, toolset and team set-up for lean digital product creation
Who’s it for?
